Tommy Yap, MPA

Public health policy analyst

Legislative monitoring, workshops, and consulting

Tommy Yap

I am a self-described policy wonk, a passionate public health policy analyst, and a fierce voter access advocate. Public health is linking seemingly unrelated concepts into concise models and using that information to better promote health outcomes for a population. Simply, all policy influences health.

Since childhood, I have been excited about civics, inspired by my family’s proud history as public servants. That passion has followed me across the country, from Calfironia to New York City and Oklahoma. I earned a B.A. in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration from Cal Poly Pomona. I believe that policy and civics should be understandable to everyone. I am dedicated to breaking down issues, concepts, and physical barriers to policy and voter access. I have received praise for taking even the muddiest policy and breaking it down into concise, meaningful pieces for the everyday person. My often expanding multimedia outreach encompasses writings, interactive graphics, podcasts and videos, and public engagements, including the Oklahoma Legislature.

Legislative monitoring, workshops, and consulting

Why work together?

Small organizations often lack the resources to monitor the capital, whether employing an analyst or contracting with a lobbyist. Meanwhile, upending decisions go unnoticed, and impacted organizations are made aware at the last moment, forced to conform, or worse, shutter. The whim of a single legislator can rattle a group’s core mission. Retaining an experienced consultant to monitor the capital, keep your organization informed, and build partner coalitions is the most cost-effective way for your organization to respond to external policy forces without the cost of a lobbying firm or affecting your non-profit’s lobbying restrictions.

Supercharge your outreach with timely updates, simplified summaries, educational resources, and personal support. Leverage this value to:

  • Mobilize grassroots supporters
  • Drive donations
  • Build coalitions
  • Craft public relations materials

Trust me to decode the state legislature and provide the information, education, and facilitation you need to continue and grow your organization’s incredible mission!
